I want to update the citizens of Rabun County regarding the large law enforcement presence in the area of Highway 246 and Trinity Lane today.
The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and the Dillard Police Department conducted a joint operation to locate and apprehend Jordan Bradley Roberts, a wanted fugitive out of Lumpkin County. Roberts was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from Lumpkin County.
Information was obtained during the investigation indicating Roberts was possibly in the Dillard area. Due to the nature of the outstanding charges and information indicating Roberts could be armed, deputies and officers established a significant law enforcement presence in the area to ensure he could be taken into custody as safely as possible.
I am pleased to report that Roberts was located and taken into custody after a brief standoff with law enforcement.
I want to personally thank the men and women of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Dillard Police Department for their teamwork and professionalism during this operation. I also want to thank our citizens for their patience and cooperation while law enforcement was working in the area.
